4.- Nutrition problems

Valencian versionSpanish version

A balanced diet provides us with energy, helps us grow and makes our body work better, whereas a deficient nutrition leads to health problems.

Poverty situations tend to result in malnutrition because our body needs more nutrients than those which it is provided with. Unfortunately, the deficient nutrition caused by the poverty is a daily reality in developing countries.

However, malnutrition can be also caused by other reasons. Nowadays, the following eating disorders are common in the most developed countries:

  • Bulimia and anorexia: a disorder characterized by an obsessive desire to lose weight by refusing to eat.
  • Obesity: a disorder caused because the quantity and, mainly, the type of food you eat (fats, sugary foods and pastry products) is higher than recommended.
